The Heart Foundation welcomes Western Australia's move to uphold strong vaping restrictions, ensuring continued protection against the harmful effects of e-cigarettes.
Despite new Commonwealth regulations allowing the sale of vapes through pharmacies without a prescription, WA's decision to maintain strict regulations sends a clear message about the risks of vaping.
The Heart Foundation’s General Manager, Western Australia, Dr Helena Viola applauds the state’s proactive approach.
We know that any use of e-cigarettes is linked to a 33% higher risk of heart attack compared to those who have never vaped. Young people who vape are three times more likely to start smoking than their peers who don’t. This decision will help protect both adults and children from the harmful impacts of vaping.

If you are smoking or vaping and would like to quit, please contact Quitline or speak with your doctor.
