Healthy by Design is a resource designed to help planners, urban designers and related professionals in Victoria design built environments that promote healthy and active communities. The resource includes design considerations, evidence, tools and case studies and is categorised into key action areas, objectives, design principles and considerations and explanatory statements.
We also have three documents to support the Healthy by Design resource.
Healthy by Design: Victorian local government implementation tool provides practical options for councils to embed healthy design principles into their planning processes, policies and day to day operations.
Planning for Healthy urban environments offers a quick guide to the Victorian Planning Provisions relevant to the development of healthy urban environments.
The Matrix of Design Considerations highlights the links between Healthy by Design and a range of other key design agendas in order to support an integrated approach to urban design.
