Healthier hearts in the workplace

Heart Week is Australia’s national heart health awareness week held in May each year.

It provides an opportunity to place a spotlight on heart health in our workplaces by starting important conversations with colleagues. By providing information about heart health, you can empower your team to make healthier choices.

How to create a heart health awareness program

This Heart Week (5-11 May) we are asking workplaces in Australia to never miss a BEAT by encouraging their employees to understand their personal risk of developing heart disease and to take action by booking in a Heart Health Check with their GP.

Improving heart health among employees can have a significant impact on staff wellbeing, and overall productivity.

Provide heart-healthy snack and meal inspiration

Block out 30 minutes in the diary for all staff during Heart Week: Encourage your people to take the time to understand their risk of heart disease, they can use this time as a prompt to book in a Heart Health Check and use the Heart Age calculator tool or even go for a lunchtime walk. It’s also an opportunity to provide information to make positive health behaviour changes such as taking small breaks to move or browsing our range heart-healthy recipes.

Encourage your staff to find out more about risk factors for heart disease and why it is so critical to address them early. For more information, share this resource with your staff.
