Dr Geoff Lester's heart story
Geoff Lester was just 24 when he underwent the first of four open heart surgeries. His experiences eventually led to a decision to change career path where he now studies medicine in hopes to help other Australians living with a heart condition. Blood pressure and your heart
Blood pressure is the pressure of your blood on the walls of your arteries as your heart pumps it around your body. Your blood pressure will go up and down naturally throughout the day depending on what you are doing, especially if you are doing exercise.

Greg’s experience led him to discover that many people lack the confidence to assist someone in cardiac arrest, with research showing that the rate of survival from a cardiac arrest is very low – around 10%. This was the turning point that led him to start his charity Heart of the Nation. “The mission of Heart of the Nation is to ensure that every Australian knows that when someone isn’t responsive or breathing properly, they are that person’s lifeline.”
