Ian Humphreys was a solicitor for over 30 years and was a partner of Ashurst, a global law firm, for nearly 30 years. He provided strategic advice to many of Australia's largest corporations and government entities in relation to employment, workplace relations and occupational health and safety law. He was an accomplished litigator practicing in numerous jurisdictions including State Supreme Courts, the Federal Court of Australia and the High Court of Australia. For many years he was the Managing Partner of Ashurst's Brisbane office and held numerous other senior management roles. He was registered to practice as a foreign lawyer in the United Kingdom. He currently provides specialist non-legal strategic consultancy advice to a select group of clients.

The role of the Board is to provide strategic oversight and direction for the Heart Foundation’s activities and ensure that those organisational activities are directed towards achieving its vision of an Australia free of heart disease and its mission to prevent heart disease and improve the heart health and quality of life of all Australians through our work in prevention, support and care and research.

The Heart Foundation is a National Health Promotion Charity with offices in each state and territory. The National Heart Foundation of Australia (Heart Foundation) is a Company Limited by Guarantee.
