Following the success of the National Heart Health Check Recall Pilot in 2021, the Heart Foundation is implementing Phase 2 of the program with over 200 practices enrolled. Text to Detect supports targeted identification and management of CVD via an innovative SMS recall system.
Through the National Heart Health Check Recall Pilot in 2021, over 42,000 Australians received personalised Recall SMS and access to digital health resources. Hear what the team at Providence Medical Belmont (NSW) had to say about their experience participating in this Pilot.
Recall activities are supported by GoShare Plus – an SMS recall tool developed by program partner Healthily and embedded within CAT4. Eligible patients who are recipients of the recall and/o reminder SMS will receive an embedded link to access preventative health resources, designed to increase their understanding of CVD risk factors and the Heart Health Check.
As part of participating in the program activities, enrolled practices were asked to consent to sharing deidentified and aggregated data with the Heart Foundation via a customised CAT4 report on two occasions:
BASELINE REPORT – sent via a custom CAT4 report at the baseline appointment.
POST-INTERVENTION REPORT – sent via custom CAT4 report 3 months after the observation period. This report is automated (appointment not required.
Ethics approval by the RACGP National Research and Evaluation Ethics Committee was received in May 2022 (NRECC 22-122). Study results will be published in a peer reviewed journal and shared here on our website.
Enrolment to the Text to Detect program is closed. Implementation is currently underway and is expected to be completed by 30 March 2023.
In the meantime, we encourage all practices to use the Heart Health Check Toolkit’s easy-to-use templates and practical resources to integrate Heart Health Checks into routine patient care.
