Supporting Young Hearts Program

Information and resources for health professionals who are treating patients between 18 - 40 years of age.

The Supporting Young Hearts program works with younger people, aged 18 to 40 years, who are living with a heart condition or recovering from heart surgery. It aims to help younger people connect, support each other by sharing stories and learn about how to manage their condition and keep their hearts healthy.

The information available here is sourced from a Supporting Young Hearts health professionals forum held in 2018.

The forum included presentations from:

  • Tess Pryor – Overview of Supporting Young Hearts program
  • Dr Angeline Leet – cardiologist: work of the Alfred Hospital Young Adult Heart Transplant and Heart Failure clinic
  • Dr Rosemary Higgins – cardiac psychologist: emotional wellbeing.
  • Tess Pryor - Launch of new digital patient stories.
