About Face-to-Face (F2F)

The Heart Foundation’s friendly fundraisers visit shopping centres and door knock in different suburbs, across Australia throughout the year to raise awareness and vital funds to replace the impact of heart disease with hope and healthier lives.

The Heart Foundation relies on donations from the community to fund essential heart health initiatives, including research, education and community programs aimed at preventing and managing heart disease for all people in Australia.

The role of our fundraisers is to spread awareness and grow our community of long term, regular supporters to allow the Heart Foundation to make commitments to programs and initiatives over the long-term to benefit people impacted by heart disease now and in the future.

To ensure the highest standard of fundraising, the Heart Foundation is a member of the Public Fundraising Regulatory Association.

Frequently Asked Questions

Face-to-face fundraising involves trained, professional fundraising representatives engaging directly with the public in person, typically in public spaces, door-to-door, or at events, to raise awareness and secure regular monthly donations.

Face-to-face fundraising is one of the most effective ways to connect personally with the community, share detailed information about our mission, and provide the community with the opportunity to sign-up to make a regular monthly gift to support the Heart Foundation long-term.

Our fundraisers wear red, collared polo shirts branded with the Heart Foundation logo and carry identification badges with their name, photo, and ID number and the PFRA logo. Our fundraisers collect donation details on electronic devices like an ipad to keep your information safe and secure. They will never ask for, or accept cash. If you have chosen to support us, you’ll receive a follow up phone call, email and SMS that will also verify your interaction was genuine.

You can verify the current location of our fundraisers here. Sometimes locations change at short notice so you can also contact our supporter relations team on 13 11 12 for peace of mind.

All fundraising activities adhere to the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) guidelines and industry codes of conduct. The Heart Foundation is also a member of the Public Fundraising Regulatory Association and this requires that all our fundraisers be extensively trained and must adhere to set standards and code of conduct. Our fundraisers are passionate advocates for the Heart foundation and are trained to be professional and respectful in their interactions with the community.

We work with third-party fundraising agencies, ensuring all representatives meet our rigorous standards and training requirements. Using the services of a specialist third party for this type of fundraising across Australia is more cost effective than employing our own team, and results in much larger returns for heart disease. All fundraisers receive fair compensation for their work in line with the relevant Fair Work award rates.

We pay third-party fundraising providers a one-off fee for every new regular monthly donor who kindly decides to support us. This fee varies according to how much is donated. It is important to note we pay this fee out of a pre-allocated budget, not out of an individual’s donation. The other important thing to know is that this is a one-off fee, and many of our donors choose to support us for several years (with no further payments being made to our service providers for ongoing donations).

Growing our regular monthly giving program is currently one of the most effective and sustainable ways to fund more research into heart health. Volunteers play a vital role in many areas of our work, but a project of the magnitude and importance of our regular giving program needs significant and consistent resourcing, and we have found that paid personnel are the most effective way to do this.

All donations are gratefully accepted. However for the safety of our fundraisers, they are not able to accept cash donations from you in person. If you would like to make a one-off donation online, you can do so here or phone 13 11 12. Unfortunately, our fundraisers can only assist with setting up a regular monthly donation via credit card or direct debit. If you would like to make a one-off donation you can do this via our website at heartfoundation.org.au

We value your feedback. Please contact our supporter relations team with the location and details of your interaction, including the fundraiser's name or ID number if available. Either via phone (13 11 120 or via email [email protected]). Alternatively you can contact the Public Regulatory Association via [email protected].
