This research will focus on treatment in acute stroke care and stroke recovery by designing and implementing large clinical trials, as well as developing new tools and measures to support stroke care. This will be focused on remote and underserved populations. This will be executed through a research program on blood pressure control, for stroke patients at various stages of stroke care. This will start from ambulance care, and continue through acute hospital care, major hospital procedures (i.e. thrombectomy for ischaemic stroke), and stroke rehabilitation. This rehabilitation may include interventions for mobility impairment and communication disorders after stroke. This research extends from my PhD, which identified a need to determine the best blood pressure management in stroke care and to reduce disability severity in order to maximise patients’ health and wellbeing after stroke.
