While better treatments and care have significantly reduced the fatality rate of many cardiovascular diseases (CVD), the risk of recurrent heart attacks, strokes and mortality after an initial CVD event remains high.
Despite, the well established role of dietary interventions for primary CVD prevention, there is surprisingly limited understanding of the role of diet in those who have experienced a CVD event.
This project aims to better understand the main dietary risk factors and optimal dietary patterns for reducing secondary CVD. The ultimate goal is to reduce death and disease for those who experience a heart attack or other CVD events, in both Australia and globally.
This fellowship is aimed at early career researchers and seeks to identify the strongest emerging Australian talent who have just completed or nearing completion of their postdoctoral studies (PhD). The successful Postdoctoral Fellow will have a demonstrated strong track record during their PhD and be working towards gaining recognition for their expertise in their research area
